Bedouin’s nightmare – the Sinai chronicles
Dahab is a small town on Sinai peninsula famous as a former Hippie Mecca and the favorite spot for holidays of Israeli soldiers. Dahab is famous for its sandy beaches, coral raffs and interesting cultural scene. For us it will be a perfect starting point to set off to the Sinai desert, where we will aim to familiarize ourselves with Bedouins culture and traditions – famous camel race! After the return from the desert Dahab will give us a chance to get to know the rhythm of the city via eyes of our local guides – each participant will have a guide assigned to himself – this will give us a unique chance to see the real Dahab life and maybe we will find the answer to the question why this place is such a tolerant and intercultural mangle.
The first day we will depart from Warsaw Chopin Airport to the Sharm El Sheikh International Airport settled 80 kilometers from Dahab. After the transfer to our accommodation place we will start the workshop from the dinner with short photographic introduction by Radek Polak.
Early in the morning we will depart to the Sinai desert, where we meet our local guides for next three days. We will participate and observe daily Bedouins’ life. We will try to get to the places which usually the tourists do not reach. We will see up-close the routines and traditions connected with nomads’ life and of course we will capture it all with our lenses!
It will be the most exciting day of our trip! We will take part in famous camel race on Sinai desert organized once a year in this region. It will be a unique chance to do some amazing shots of this unusual event. Surely you will remember this day for a long time!
After the race we will have one more day for photographs on the desert. We will portrait the Bedouins living on the desert in their villages. We will work on portrait photography skills with the guidance of Radek Polak, who specializes in portrait photography in his working life.
After our return to Dahab we will work in the town on our photographic skills. Each participant of the workshop will have his own guide assigned to him – as such we will touch the real life of the people of Dahab. It will be a unique chance to get to know the villagers better and to capture their daily life.
The next day we will continue our work with the guides in Dahab. After the first day and consulting our photos with Radek, we will have a chance to correct our mistakes and work on some extra shots to complete the Sinai photographic chronicles and the consistent story about the town.
Each participant will leave the workshop with the selection of the photos takes during the trip. Radek Polak will help with choosing the proper shots and editing them. That is why the last day will be partially devoted to one to one consultations with Radek and partially it will serve for our leisure – beach, sun-bathing and diving are some options available for the free time.
We will depart to the airport and Poland just after the breakfast.
